Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is a massage supposed to hurt?
A: No, it is not supposed to “hurt.” Everyone perceives pressure and pain differently, so please do not hesitate to let your therapist know if the massage is hurting in anyway. Our therapists aim to give you the best massage specific to you, so if the pressure is painful, let your therapist know and they will adjust to suit you.
Q: Will a massage help with my cold?
A: No, please reschedule if you are sick. Massage improves circulation and can actually spread an infection to other areas of your body, potentially making you more sick. If you are sick, please reschedule for your best interest.
Q: Do I have to be completely undressed?
A: No, you are encouraged to undress to your comfort level for your massage. Depending on the type of work being done, the therapist may recommend certain articles of clothing be removed, but your comfort is our top priority. We also offer massages allowing you to only remove jewelry and shoes.
Q: I’m not sure if I will like a stranger touching me. Should I get a massage?
A: We offer several different types of massages, including a “Head, Hands, and Feet” treatment, which is a great introduction to massage, allowing you to stay fully clothed and relax while work is done to your face, head, scalp, neck, hands, wrists, ankles, and feet. Your therapist is comfortable explaining which muscles they are working on and talking to you before, during, and after the treatment, if you have questions about any of the work being done. If you don’t like your feet being touched, your therapist will be more than happy to adjust the treatment to fit your likings, simply let your therapist know beforehand.
Q: Can I use my phone during the massage?
A: We strongly encourage phones to be placed on silent and set aside during the treatment if at all possible. If you have to stop the massage to take a phone call, the time will continue ticking, and you may not receive the full massage time you are paying for. You will still be charged full price for the massage purchased even if you miss half of it.
Q: Can my child(ren) be in the room with me during my massage?
A: No, we do not allow children in the room during the treatment. Children are also not permitted to be unattended in the waiting room while you are in your treatment.
Q: I might be pregnant; can I still have a massage?
A: In the state of South Carolina it is not advised to give a massage to a pregnant woman in the first trimester. If you think you may be pregnant, please reschedule your appointment until you are sure it is safe to proceed with the treatment. At this time we do not offer prenatal massage at Woodfern Wellness and Massage.
Q: Should I shower before my massage?
A: Yes! Please arrive to your massage clean.
Q: How old do I have to be to get a massage?
A: You must be 18 years of age or older to receive a massage treatment at Woodfern Wellness and Massage. Currently we are not treating clients under the age of 18 years old.
